Learning a new language might feel overwhelming, but by chunking down into 5-minute sprints, the obstacles standing in your way of finally starting to learn that new language are made obsolete.. No excuses: you ALWAYS have 5 minutes! The time limit encourages intense focus which further enhances the effectiveness of memorization. 100% visual learning: Every single word is beautifully illustrated. Your eyes will appreciate the gorgeous pictures and your mind will store the new memories more efficiently. You won’t have use the word of your native language, but instead, connect the new words to the illustration of the meaning. Faster, better and more fun! :) Effortless practice: We took a good look at why games are so fun and addictive, then and integrated those elements into Drops to create an app that is incredibly immersive. But unlike other games, in this case, you don’t waste your time playing. Instead you build a valuable asset--knowledge of a new language. Swipe-based: We believe in fast-paced, intuitive learning, and typing on your phone’s keyboard is anything but fast. Say hello to rapid swipes and taps! You’ll need those extra seconds to get the most out of your 5 minutes. ;) Strategic vocabulary selection: The “what” is perhaps more important than “how”. We handpicked 2600+ practical words in 100 topics that you’ll actually use when you let’s say travel to a country where your new language is spoken. ----------------- Keep tuned as even more languages are in the works! I like drops because it’s really fun, but I can only do one drops lesson every ten hours on the free version. But all in all, I would recommend this to friends.
  • A fun way to learn! But...

I really enjoy drops because it feels like a game. There are different ways you get “tested” in a game format. I like the visual aids / animated drawings that help me create the connection with the word and its meaning. It is a vocabulary building app though. I feel like I am learning random words that I can’t do much with at the moment. *I do wish there were more ways to build up my grammar skills or rules and practice complex sentence structure with this app.* I should have read the description more in depth before purchasing and assuming we’d get into that level of content. One nice update would be having to type up the word yourself sometimes, rather than being given the letters - it might help not only build recognition but recollection. Other thoughts: This is just an extra tidbit, but here are some of my favorite parts of other apps or in class learning experience: I love hearing or practicing learning songs in my target learning language, even if it’s little kid songs. Hearing audio or video recordings of different people with that native tongue speak words is cool and helps (like Memrise). I like knowing that I’m repeating or pronouncing the words I’m learning correctly, so I appreciate programs that can help me hear what I sound like or if I’m wrong (like Mango). Tips on how to pronounce words helps when you haven’t practiced ever before are awesome, especially when my untuned can’t distinguish what type of sound or how to replicate it. Overall, I like drops still. It’s different than the typical linear style of language apps and has pretty colors. But, I’d only recommend it if you intend to have a fun way to help learn foundation vocabulary and a few verbs along the way. For the price, (40$) I would like to learn enough so that I can be more creative and form my own sentences. Plus, I’m only focusing on one language right now so purchasing all of them seems unnecessary for me. If you want to work on the other skills I mentioned above, you’d have to seek that learning from an alternative sources.
  • This is awesome

Leaving a review after my first lesson so I’m not too informed, but I love it. Got this app to learn Tagalog because Duolingo doesn’t have it and I use Duolingo for Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. I’m curious if I’ll only learn vocabulary on this or if I’ll be able to learn sentence structure and grammar too...but even for just vocab, I love it.

This is the best language app I’ve used so far, and I’m also a fan of Duolingo & Rosetta Stone. The best part about this app though, is how you don’t even realize how well you’re learning until you go back the next day and somehow remember everything from the day before! Definitely worth a try. I’ll be getting the paid version next time they offer a good discount.
  • Fun learning!
