I have tried almost all chart/navigation apps for IOS. This is the best in chart display, ease of use. Now with Explorer maps it will be indispensable

I loaded this app and purchased charts because SEAiq lost access to Active Captain after the Garmin acquisition. I am delighted to once again have offline access to Active Captain data. It is limited, though. One cannot create new POI’s or add reviews without being directed to the Garmin Active Captain website. Please, developer, add these features. The nav app itself is very good, although screens are slow to load, even on my new iPad Pro.

Some issues with downloading NOAA maps into app and other bugs that were resolved by rebooting phone. Thumbs up overall.
  • Great for Navigating the Hudson

Looking for a navigation app to help me on my first trip on the Hudson River. I have a runabout without any electronics so thought I’d try finding an app that would be fun to try and hopefully be of some help. I used it for the first time on the water and it worked flawlessly in helping me keep in the main channel. Seemed to be very accurate in marking the hazards and all of the channel markers that I saw along the way. Worked great for me and made my trip much more enjoyable and I believe, safer.
  • Active Captain Issue

I like this app. Active Captain has started to act buggy in the past couple of days. The AC icons flash continuously. Not sure what that’s about.

Email support answered my questions promptly.
  • Needs AIS integration

I could easily adopt Aquamap as my primary nav app if it would accept the feed from my Vesper AIS. The chart display is especially good for cruising inland rivers but I need to communicate with the tows and see their activity as I can with SeaIQ. Hoping AIS is in line as an upcoming feature.
  • What a mess

After months waiting for this mess to sort itself out, I, although not owning a compatible Garmin device, decided to rejoin GAC. I am not impressed. It will probably take months more waiting before I Can reliably trust GAC again.
  • Better UI than iNavX but weak chart coverage

I was hoping to use this as a backup chart plotter and have heard good things. The UI is snappy and more obvious than iNavX but unfortunately there are no charts for my cruising grounds (Pacific Mexico and the Sea of Cortez). I hope Aqua Maps partners with Navionics, et al, for global chart coverage.
