I was reading an entry at 11:45am and at Midnight the article locks when I had not finished my reading of said article. Articles (when you have the unpaid version) are available for 24 hours and if you have not finished it, well, too bad! Who does that?! I HAVE DELETED THE BLINKIST APP.
  • Zero free articles

One of the reasons I downloaded this app was because it had advertised access to free articles. I understand that not all content can be free, but the second time I opened the app, I couldn’t view ANYTHING without a membership. I’m constantly on the search for free education, as I do not have the economical means to spend outside of my survival budget, and was sorely disappointed by not being able to use the app after all.
  • Nothing to read and no support

I had high hopes for this app. You get a 7-day free trial after you agree to pay. However, I was never able to access any books during my free 7 days, then the payment went through and still I can’t access any books. Every time I select something, I’m prompted to pay again! I sent emails in the “feedback” area but haven’t heard anything — and there is no support function I’ve been able to find. I’m sure it’s a great app if/when it works. For me, I’m just out $85 bucks.
  • Not actually free

I was really excited to try Blinkist since it’s right up my alley. Unfortunately it only masquerades as free; you have to upgrade in order to access ANYTHING. I’d rather listen to ads.

Very nicely summarized. And on the idea of Blinkist, finally now I am so relieved and I don’t have to have a stack of books I haven’t gotten to yet!!
  • Like a Tasting-Room for Books

A great way to learn about books I might never get around to reading. The audio versions enable me to multi-task. Pick blueberries with Thich Nhat Hahn. Make blueberry syrup while listening to The Man Who Fed the World. I think they should credit the author of the summary and the reader.

Read! Except, who has time anymore? Blinkist has employed exceptional staff who can distill a weighty tome into bite sized pieces. From influential feminist writings to art history to modern day foreign policy to self help, one can expand their mind and learn something entirely new in less then 10 min per day. You can read the blinks, or you can listen while you get dressed for work. The blinks are accurate, too. I vetted several in the beginning, and they at true to the book. If you want more, a link is provided to purchase the book.
  • Nice Concept. Needs More Thought.

I really like the concept, but I think the app is too beholden to some arbitrary time limit. It works for some titles, but some titles require a longer session and a deeper dive into the author’s work. Example: I just listened to the blinks for “The 48 Laws of Power” and instead of having 48 blinks that summarized each law, they selected 7 laws to examine just to keep it short. Really? I think Robert Greene’s work deserves a little more respect than that.
