Love RSS feeds? So do we!! RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too. Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does it's magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links. Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds. Use as a standalone feed reader, or, sync with any of the several services: Feedly, Feedbin, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, Newsblur, Feed Wrangler.

  • Full text broken

    Doesn’t work in latest update.
  • Three crashes to open, then it’s pretty good

Crashes three time on launch every time I go to use it but typically after that 4th launch, things are generally good.
  • Nice app, with a couple of caveats

I often jump from one RSS reader to another in search of my ideal experience and I have to say that Lire comes close. The text-fetching is first-rate and the app feels at home on iOS. I do wish the developer would add a couple of key features: 1) I wish there were a way to group items by feed in the All Articles/Unread view. 2) I wish per-feed settings (especially Open Articles in Full-Text View) synced across devices. It’s a pain to have to change the settings for an individual feed on every single device.
  • Update doesnt work!!

Wont update - just crashes on iphone 6. Still the best!
  • Latest update does not run on iOS 11

Updated to the latest version today on my iPad mini, and it crashes upon open. Dead in the water for now I guess. When it ran, it was fairly good. OnLy had it a week, so I didn’t give it a full test. Looked promising. So far, the only thing I noticed odd was that it has issues with the RSS feeds of Reddit. Required extra presses compared to other readers to actually get to the content
  • Inoreader + lire = RSS perfection

  • Best RSS reader

I switched from Newsify to lire solely for the full-text support and caching options. Good • Absolutely free, no in-app purchase or subscription needed • Beautiful UI that looks like a native iOS app • Feedly sync and Pocket integration • Multiple light and dark theme options that can be set to switch automatically based on the display brightness threshold you set • Many customization options such as short/long swipe left/right actions and offline caching settings (Wi-Fi only, Full-text for certain RSS feeds) • Granular mark-as-read options, including “mark all above as read” and “mark all as read if they are older than: 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month” Not so good • Managing subscriptions and folders isn’t the most intuitive process • The Filter and Search buttons are difficult to reach on a Plus size iPhone Suggestions for improvement • Get rid of the Filter button and add Unread, Starred, etc. as list items under Subscriptions and All Articles • Add a button to view the article in an in-app Safari browser with Reader mode support • Change search from the magnifying glass button, to a pull-down-to-reveal search bar available in all feeds and folders, not just the top-level feed list • Add 3D Touch Home Screen Quick Actions (View All, View Unread) • Under Article List Options, add a Add Tap-and-hold action • Add a “Do nothing” option for the Swipe To Left/Right/etc menu • Change the “Mark all as read” button to use the native iOS list prompt
  • Love the new addition of 'Calm Feeds' and 'Hot Link'

I absolutely love the new addition of 'Calm Feeds' and 'Hot Link' feature. If they can also be added to the automatic full text caching settings where you can choose to cache all calm feeds instead of going through the subscription list one by one, that would be pretty awesome. 👍🏻
  • Excellent overall

Of the apps in this field that are still being actively improved Lire stands out primarily for its ‘clean’ interface and reasonably deep integration with newer iOS features. The ability to cache the full text of articles on sync is incredibly useful and removes a big point of friction in most rss/reader interactions. A few minor-ish niggles: some of the animations, particularly when sliding left or right on an article, are pretty jarring and clunky feeling, compared to more mature apps (reeder in particular stands out). The design, again while mostly great, is a bit off-seeming, particularly the shortcut bar. I’m nowhere near competent enough in design to properly pick nits here just something about the proportions just isn’t quite as tidy feeling as it might be. Apart from those minor sort of ‘feel’ quibbles the only real frustration with the app is the strange inability to call the share sheet when lightly pressing a link (I.e to send to Instapaper). It’s entirely possible I’m missing something here but that one improvement would make this near perfect, for me at least. Have spent too much time criticizing a great app, apologies, is always easier to carp.
  • Totally worth the price, and hoping it'll work in ios 12

This app is amazing! For awhile, when the "Apple newsstand" appp still existed, I, as a voiceover user, was looking for a good, accessible way to consume tons of different news sources all in one place. Then, one day, I heard about Lire, and got more info about it, a few days later, on Christmas day that year, I bought Lire. It’s the best $5 I've ever spent! The only things I'd really like to see are: 1. iMessage app 2. Apple watch app 3. Share extension Lire rocks' and I really hope it's still going to be supported in ios 12.
