  • My go-to list app

I’ve tried a few apps for grocery shopping lists and this one is my favorite. It’s got enough features to be useful, but not overloaded with things that get in the way. I’m not sure there is one “right” way to use it, but the way I use it makes sense to me. I make up 1 list per store so I know where I’m going to buy things. Until recently I’ve ignored the recipe planner aspect of the app, and just used the Apple Notes app to make up weekly menus. I started using it and found that the recipe import is a great feature! I have recipes on a variety of web sites, and the ability to import them into 1 location where I schedule them is great! And then I can use the link if I have to go back to the original site to check on something. My one feature request would be to lock the shopping lists in a sort of “shopping mode”, so the edit icon and Add item bar is not visible, because I accidentally hit it sometimes instead of double-clicking on the item to mark it off the list.

I use this app all the time, and it’s the most useful app out there. I share shopping lists with my wife, weekend to-do lists, packing lists, wish lists, etc. It’s well-designed and easy to use. Thank you for making this app!

Best list app I’ve found. Great for busy families. The quick sync and sharing with others is awesome. Saves my family tons of time and keeps us on the same page. Highly recommend

I would seriously be lost without it. I love how you can add items at any time with Siri. This is the only list app you’ll need. Thanks guys!

Excellent job! I have a master list of items and I mark them as needed when I go to the grocery store. The Apple Watch app means my phone can stay in my pocket.

This app is great! I just have the basic/standard (free) one, but I would like to get the UPGRADE! I have different Store Shopping List, my Make-up, Light Bulbs for the house by room, school clothes shopping, to a "planning a baby shower" list! It's great!

This app conveniently combines recipes and a grocery list in a very unique way that has been incredibly helpful. We’ve used it to share recipes within our family and to communicate grocery needs on our way home from work. It’s been super useful. I’d highly recommend this app to anyone.

My wife and I are able to add to the list throughout the day and whoever makes it to the store first gets to use the list. LOL. It’s very handy and I love being able to transfer recipes seamlessly from the Internet to the recipes on the app.

Paid 12 dollars for family subscription and can’t add wife to the household. Totally useless. Tried to send feedback and the “send” button is grayed out. Can’t make this up. Terribly disappointing.
  • Disappointing. Lacks very basic usage tools.

On the surface this app looked like it had everything I wanted but I ended up sorely disappointed. The two main features I expect to be very basic but AnyList can’t handle: Recipe dividing. If I want to downscale a recipe, it allows me to do it in values like 1/3, 1/4, 1/2 etc. But it doesn’t allow me to do it based on decimal, or more importantly, SERVINGS. If I have a recipe that feeds 5 people and want to make 2 servings, why can I not do that? The only way to make this feasible is to enter recipes as servings for one, and then add them multiple times. But that brings me to my second complaint.... Grocery list generation. If I have one recipe that requires 4 oz of chicken, and another that requires 8 oz of chicken, and a third with 4 oz of chicken, it makes sense on my grocery list to show 16oz of chicken is needed. Instead I have 3 entries for chicken. This is really basic business logic on the apps part. So if I break up my recipes into individual servings and enter each one for each meal, I get a grocery list with 250 items I need to buy. Until these things change I find the app extremely unusable for my wife and me, and I regret paying for the full family version.
