  • Too much

    By andy8803
I thought it was a great idea at first. Yet I’ve found it to be more convenient to just get a hotel room for the night. And for extended stay, get a cabin. They’ve added on lodging taxes and there’s hidden cleaning fees. I’d rather not bother the host or be bothered by them. And have my privacy.
  • Travelers beware

There have been multiple occurrences of Airbnb “guests” attempting to enter my home at night believing they were at the correct location of their booking. I am not an Airbnb host.

  • Bedbugs and horrible service

    By sace1000
Unfortunately, my experience of AirBnB has been lackluster, starting with my daughter waking up from bedbug bites at a AirBnB in NYC. She collected evidence in the form of pictures: Bites on her skin, a dead bedbug, a streak of pink on the sheet. Promises where made that she would get help and I was pleased, only to hear nothing more from them to get my daughter out of the place and into a hotel. Total dropped ball. Nobody called back or responded to her requests the next day. TOTAL silence. I had to step in and be forceful and threaten with attorneys before she finally got some help New promises where made and instead of setting her up in a hotel as they promised, we had to pay for the hotel and would be re-imbursed. I will let you know if they follow through or drop the ball again. My daughter went through several service people who all dropped the ball except one. who unfortunately was off over the weekend. He had promised that the funds from the bedbug place would automatically be transferred to a new place we had found. It did not happen, and the new place was taken before we could get the funds. The refund for the bedbug place was instead transferred to our bank account and we lost the new place. My daughter had to take her clothes in plastic bags to a laundromat and leave behind her suit cases. After spending the whole day cleaning her clothes, I had booked a hotel last minute and really expensive because it was the weekend and the promise of setting her up in a hotel did not happen right away. When her clothes where clean, she finally checked into the hotel without suitcases. We have now ordered suitcases online and shipped to hotel and only hope we will see all the money again. According to my daughter, the host had denied any problems with bedbugs and also said he passed an inspection. You only have inspections if you already had bedbugs and had to sanitize, and the host had failed to tell tenants that the place had previously had bedbugs, which is required by law in NYC. One would think, AirBnB can check with the city before allowing a host to rent through AirBnB. This has been a total nightmare for us, and only one person has been somewhat helpful. NOBODY did anything on the ground to help out and nothing really happened until I threatened with law suit. I should not have to do that to get this resolved quickly. We are still in limbo and I do not trust this will work out. Be aware, that AirBnB obviously don’t check for residential bedbugs. I also know they have no follow through and do not act unless you are forceful. We were promised reimbursement for hotel stay and cleaning expenses, but they still owe us over $1,570 in damages and their mandatory arbitration is costly without an affordable way of funding an attorney and many fees. Thank you.
  • Caution

I have booked 4 places. Two were great, nice hosts and great experience. But two were very disappointing. One was for a trip I was volunteering for a charity. A week before the trip, the charity had to change plans due to a hurricane, and I could not cancel my reservation, so that was a waste of money. The other left me and my daughter stranded. The host kept telling us that they would be there shortly, but did not show up, and after dark the neighborhood was not safe. We were unable to find a hotel, and were to exhausted to drive, and slept in our car. I will still use Airbnb but on a limited basis. I prefer to play safe with a hotel most of the time
  • Calendar issues

    By Aborgstrom
I recently received a notification that my listing may be suspended because I had a guest cancellation. I have all my calendars synced, showing that the room is already booked, but it still allowed the guest to book anyway. Not only that, but receiving a notice that my account might be suspended sounds like a threat. Be professional Air BNB. That’s a really poor way to communicate with hosts. I shouldn’t give you any stars at all. In addition to that, I cannot even email you with my concern, which is, I shouldn’t be penalized because it was an error with your app. So disappointed!!!!!!!!!
  • App never worked for +2 years

    By dagnyausten
Unless on Wi-go. Then I couldn’t open emails sent to me by their own Tech Support. Then when I went to upgrade the app today, it stopped working completely. It is the worst app I’ve ever had.
  • Contacts access

    By fjdksnnf
The app won’t let me sign in using my google accounts unless it give it access to my contacts. It doesn’t even explain why
  • Airbnb is Pretty exploitive toward hosts

    By elevator pride
The security deposit is meaningless to host because Airbnb makes it extremely difficult to collect any money at all if a guest damages your home. I have sometimes had extensive water damage and other very serious problems and Airbnb will not compensate generally Many of the guests know this and they can be quite care less and if the guest makes any type of complaint at all Airbnb will often deduct money from you and force you to pay them up to half of the total of the reservation. I had a guest who stayed for eight days at $800 but she complained that the air conditioning wasn’t cool enough and they gave her $400 out of my account
  • I’m Done with Airbnb

    By Just Anther Traveler
I used to love Airbnb until I had problems trying to cancel one of my reservation. I got an email for Airbnb saying my trip was canceled but then they only gave me half of the refund and kept my reservation for a day (when the email and cancelation policy said I would be receiving my full refund and both days were canceled.) I messaged their support team through Airbnb and got NO WHERE. I even sent them pictures of the email I got from them, saying it was canceled. I then tried calling Airbnb and they said they couldn’t do anything because it was being processed through there “trip team.” They couldn’t even give me an answer on when they were going to contact me since they couldn’t transfer me over to them through the phone. Now, since it’s past the date to get the refund, they are saying that the host is denying my request to cancel the trip. I’M NEVER USING AIRBNB AGAIN. Just wait until you have a problem with one of your reservations and you’ll see how horrible those costumer service is!!
