  • Worth the money

    By Devonclaire
I bought this app because I was super frustrated with the native iOS podcast app, and I’m glad I did. Downcast makes up for all of the Podcast App’s flaws, and then some. It’s intuitive to use and has a lot more options, including playing at 1 and 1/4 speed instead of just 1 and 1/2. The only thing I’d like to change about this app is I’d like to be able to rewind by 15 seconds instead of rewinding by 30.

Update: developer has reached out to me! Update 2: the bug I identified appears to have been resolved. THANK YOU!

function “Find Podcasts” is not working
  • Don’t like last update

Cannot lock/unlock podcasts with long press as it always was a convenient future. Only can do it what I press the “info” icon, which brings the next screen. So, it’s a new extra step for me for locking podcasts. Please correct! iPhone 6S+, iOS 11.2.
  • Normally 5 Stars. Latest version unstable

    By ScottV19
Latest version unstable and is quitting in the middle of podcast playback. Lags when opening the list of episodes for a given podcast and lags when opening an episode to start playback. Please fix!
  • If you use on multiple devices, prepare to lose everything

On the surface using iCloud to sync between devices is a big plus. In practice this is implemented horribly by Downcast. Instead of syncing based on the most recent changes, Downcast will happily sync whatever you opened last as the “master” copy. So if you have the app on the Mac and iPhone, and have been using the iPhone version exclusively for a while, as soon as you fire up the Mac app it will “sync” your phone with whatever old information was on the Mac - deleting any new podcasts or episodes along the way and forcing you to search for and add those deleted podcasts and episodes. It’s a good app for one and only one device. Stay away if you want/need syncing between devices.
  • Best app on my phone.

This is half the reason I’m still using an iPhone.
  • Can't get a basic podcast to download

    That's it

Far superior to the native iOs this application...intuitive, flexible and easy to use.
  • Happy with Downcast for years

I love the configurable skip forward and back times. When I'm driving I can reach over and swipe forward 20 seconds or back 10 (which work best for me). Double tap to pause is awesome. Per-podcast global overrides help audio-boost certain podcasts, play them continuously or not, and adjust playback speed. I can choose to Lock specific episodes so they don't delete. [Update] the ability to save all settings and podcasts in iCloud, in a granular fashion, made it so easy to do a fresh start with my iPhone. Thank you!!
