Description

Meetup brings people together in thousands of cities to do more of what they want to do in life. It is organized around one simple idea: when we get together and do the things that matter to us, we’re at our best. And that’s what Meetup does. It brings people together to do, explore, teach and learn. For example, people run marathons, thanks to running Meetups. They write, thanks to writing Meetups. They change their careers, thanks to career Meetups. Because at Meetups, people welcome each other. They talk, help, mentor, and support each other – all in pursuit of achieving their life goals. Featured by Apple in “Best New Apps” and “Great Free Apps” Some popular Meetups include: Tech Meetup groups Moms Meetup groups Dads Meetup groups Fitness Meetup groups Hiking Meetup groups Career and Networking Meetup groups Support Meetup groups Book Club Meetup groups Photography Meetup groups New in Town Meetup groups Social Meetup groups Dog Meetup groups Language Meetup groups and 1,000s more Subscription plans: Want to start a new Meetup and become an organizer? • Good Luck Trying to Deactivate Your Account

There is no way to deactivate your account from the app itself or using the mobile version of the site. If you would like to deactivate your account, you have to use the desktop version. If you don’t have a desktop computer that means you have to look at the desktop version on mobile and try zooming in to figure out how to deactivate. Then, even if you are logged in on the desktop version of the site you will have to enter your password in order to deactivate, which if you had it saved somewhere or you were just logging in with Google seem to be impossible so you just have to change your password just to deactivate your account. I honestly would’ve given this app four stars because I enjoyed using it while it lasted but the process of getting my account deactivated was so frustrating that they get a one star rating from me. This can’t be that difficult of a fix, come on Meetup get it together!
  • It’s 2018 and I can’t filter by time?

I’ve been suggested meet up often by a lot of people but none of them work night shift. Obvious daycentric bias exits in this app. Why can’t I sort for morning only events or whatever time works best for me? Why can’t you see if an event costs anything up front either? I’m actually shocked at how much graphical data is included on the app yet none of it useful.
  • Where’s the iPad app, seriously

It’s bad enough that meetup.com is blocked by my company’s firewall, and that I had to fish through and unfortunately view several dating apps in the app store before finding the official Meetup app, THEN I find out there’s no iPad app. This isn’t starting off well.

Easy to use and helps me find fun things to do without a ton of searching and fighting through tourist suggestions. I especially like the changes they’ve made in the latest update.
  • App ignores push notification settings

I’ve turned off the push notification settings for one of my groups that always has chatter in the discussions. The app doesn’t respect my settings - global settings are off and individual discussion post settings are off yet I still get tons of notifications. It’s annoying as hell and the only option is to leave the group. In the past hour, I’ve received at least 15 notifications when settings are off. Please fix. iOS 11.4.1 iPhone 6.
  • Confusing

Hard to navigate. First day using app. Not very intuitive. I feel like the way it’s set up it’s hard to find groups, figure out what’s old vs new, upcoming events, what the hell am I looking at? The idea of Meetup is great. But i wish it was set up in a more user-friendly fashion.

  • Stop!!!!

Do you guys get paid on how many major changes you can make to the app? Seriously, just stop! Your changes have absolutely NO direction. Add a tab, eliminate a tab, repeat, recycle. What are you doing? Seriously, if there is a direction you are taking this app, I would love it if you could publish it as a reply to this review, because to users, it just looks like you make major changes for no reason. Today I downloaded an update that had no specific notes; just some vague reference to improving the app regularly. The note should really have said that you regularly make changes to the app for no reason and without thought for the consequences. So, the update that I got today eliminates the tab that gives you a list of events the user has signed up for (and can also look at past events attended), which is a nice feature. So, what was the thinking in eliminating it? I’d really love to know. And then, what was the thinking in not noting it in the update notes? Surprise! I’m sure you don’t realize this because I’m sure none of you are Meetup organizers, but every time you remove a tab, organizers get questions about how to use the app. So, now I have to figure out a workaround for members who used that tab. Of course, I can just look in the update notes to figure it out ... oh wait, it’s not mentioned in the update notes! Why? You tell me. You need to stop making changes that are visible to the users until you can figure out what direction you are trying to go and share that with your users. Stop! Just Stop.

Whenever I’m trying to use this app when an event is about to happen and I want visit the page, it tells me that there is no content available. I have an iPhone X. I always have to rely on safari to use meet up, the app never works.
