The June update for the app has added a lot of important functionality. It’s good to see the developers taking feedback and actually doin something about it.
  • Great app. Needs Math equation compatibility

This is great. Are used it for practically everything except for my math classes in college. I would love for the ability to write out equations and convert them into neatly printed text.
  • Cannot contact support about issues

I have issues with the application but the support is nonexistent. I tried to navigate the support site but it is just questions and answers. It's as if they don't want to hear from you and they make it hard to contact them. Companies that don't want to hear from customers, have put profits above customers.
  • They do listen and fix problems fast. Best software out there for notes for med students

Still slow to add pictures. About a min each but at least it doesn’t crash. Fixed in 24 hrs: Adding pictures is a nightmare and super slow now. Sure they added features at the sacrifice of doing the basic ones far slower. It takes 45 seconds or it to stop lagging after adding a picture when before it took 10.
  • Great for medical school

I absolutely love Notabililty! I’m a writer and I initially struggled with medical school when I was trying to type notes, but love how I can write, drag images in, save PDFs in notability, and help to save trees! One suggestion: there’s a nice tab that appears when you want to reposition an inserted image. I wish there can be a similar tab for selecting and reposition written words, especially when the font is smaller. When I try to drag those, they end of becoming bigger in font instead of moving, and it takes many attempts before I can finally reposition. The tab would be super helpful if possible!

It’s great wit the new features and everything, but it keeps closing me out and/or freezing and my progress doesn’t save. I also can’t enlarge images. I noticed a lot of other people are having this problem because of the most recent update. PLEASE FIX THIS!! Otherwise, this truly is a five star app; I’ve been using it forever <3
  • Love Notability!!

I first started using the app in May 2018 after I purchased an iPad Pro 13 inch. My decision to buy an iPad was formed when I noticed a friend of mine at a learning retreat use the iPad to do math and physics problems. I loved it because at that time I was a bit upset about the fact that I lose all the paper notes that I make when solving math and science problems due to bulky notebooks. I purchased the iPad thinking that I’d break even eventually given that I spend almost a $100/year on notebooks and writing instruments. But when I started using Notability for other kinds of note-taking such as daily journaling, thinking about a topic or an idea, annotations from books, real-time note taking during a conversation with people [using the Apple Pencil], and more. In a few days of ownership of this iPad, I started using the Notability app 4-5 hours a day (according to ScreenTime) for many things: thinking, planning, making notes during meetings and conversations, doing math and science problems, my “observations of the world”, and any kind of non-trivial data that I could not trust my brain to store forever (too much risk of false memories). First of all, the app offers great organization functionality. You can create dividers and then store subjects within them and then create notes within the subjects. As an organization freak, I love it. I have broad dividers like “Math”, “Conversations with People”, “Brain-computer interfaces”, and so on. Then other features that I use the most are the Pencil, Highlighter, Eraser, Shapes, Cut, Move, Inserting Photos, Undo, Share, CTRL+F, and lines on paper. The mix of “hand-writing” with Apple Pencil and typing is perfect. It also offers real-time back-up to Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, etc — which works very well and is fast. After about 1 year of use, I have 1,455 notes in the iPad, all neatly organized in about 350 subjects, which are organized in 50 dividers. The customer service is also very excellent. I contacted Notability once (on 13th February, 2019) about an issue I had where if I moved a divider around, it lost all of its subjects — the notes weren’t getting deleted, they were just not in the subjects I’d created anymore. Jonathan from Notability (or Ginger Labs?) replied in 5 hours saying that I should close the divider before attempting to move it and my subjects inside should move with it. And his suggestion worked. Ideally an open divider should not cause this trouble — so it’d be awesome if Notability could fix that. I sometimes consider Notability to be sort of like an extension to the memory in my brain. In order to fight the fallibility of human memory, Notability has made it possible for me to document all non-trivial data in my life. Notability (and the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil) are the top products I’m most grateful to in my life. Thank you for developing such an amazing piece of technology!
  • Generally good but having crash issues

Having some crash issues when editing text or manipulating hand writing. Particularly annoying as it would seem that the program does not auto save frequently enough not to lose work.
  • Love some features, not others

The new update is great. I love the shapes you can make now. I do NOT love how now the pencil selects shapes with a finger touch while before it was just for scrolling.
