Plane Finder receives real time ADS-B and MLAT signals sent by aircraft to transmit their positional data to land based receivers. This technology is faster than traditional radar and is used for air traffic control and navigation. ADS-B is not used by all airlines or aircraft, however this is changing and the number of aircraft tracked by ADS-B is increasing all of the time. This was once a good app with info on nearby flights. The app has changed and nearby flights are not found or available. Not worth it anymore.
  • Highly recommend it.

This program on Apple TV keeps wanting to take you through the tutorial and then freezes up and will not allow you to proceed past it. It tells you to push play on your remote but will not do anything just locks up.

A really amazing app! It gives so much information about the planes in the air. Allows the user to get all different types of information about the players I can see in the sky above me.

Worst app I have ever installed in my life.. VEEERRRYYY slow and not at all worth a single penny. Don’t waist your money!!!! It won’t show you any flight tracking if your “out of range” Just go on flight aware.. can’t believe I waisted money on this. Not at all what it advertises You type in a flight number and it won’t show you where it is. WORST app available
  • Inaccurate info

I’ve used this at an airport and elsewhere multiple times and consistently the information displayed is incorrect. Planes are shown where non exist, and planes that are taking off, landing, or just flying nearby are rarely identified. Another app I tried had much more accurate (though definitely still flawed sometimes) information. Not really acceptable for an app that costs this much.

Most of the tracking airplane data like speed, location and altitude are wrong!

Me and all my pilot colleagues I work with purchased the app because it once allowed us to filter the traffic between two specific airports. Being a private jet pilot it was very helpful to see what routes all the airlines are flying considering winds and weather. Especially for routes like New York - Los Angeles. Unfortunately the developer changed the filter setting a few updates ago and now this functionality is not available anymore. Now, when you set the filter to departing traffic New York and landing traffic Los Angeles, it won’t show you the traffic between those specific airport. Instead, it will show you all traffic departing New York to anywhere and all traffic landing Los Angeles from anywhere which makes the app useless for me and my colleagues who purchased it extra for that purpose. Unfortunately the support team was not interested in my request providing the previous filter functionality and wouldn’t change it back. I guess I’ll look for alternative apps and try to get a refund from AppStore since the functionalities that were there when the app was purchased were taken away later..... What a shame....
