  • Dictionary with a liberal, anti-“old white men” agenda.

    By Ethical muse
It’s a shame these folks can’t just provide a dictionary. I’m not interested in anything with a dictionary app other than a dictionary. As they don’t attribute their commentary, they provide a platform for nastiness with no need for anyone to be held accountable.
  • I guess they removed the original iPhone version?

    By authordrsilva
There are several different spin-off dictionary.com apps for some reason, but the original one I bought upgrades on isn’t available on iPhone, and isn’t even in my purchase history. I downloaded Dictionary.com: English Words, which has the option for all the upgrades I bought in the other app, but if I hit “restore purchases” it tells me it can’t find any past purchases, meaning it’s indeed an entirely different app. The original app with upgrades is still available on iPad, but I’m more likely to have my phone with me when I’m out and about so it would be better to have the iPhone version back. Why are we spending money on things companies can just decide to revoke? No more.
  • Master

I like this app because it helps me whit my English class.
  • Current Events/Articles

    By Chrisking533
The curators for this app seem to be bent toward offensive content. Their articles highlight lewd and offensive content from a defensive nature. Perhaps they have a group of potty minded eighth graders writing or selecting the articles as opposed to a group of mature adults. Who knows
  • Over politicized

    By AwesomeDodge
I just want to look up the definition of a word. This is supposed to be a dictionary/thesaurus app, not a political opinion hit piece. I don’t care about Kaepernick, Orange man=bad, or anything else political when I go to look up a word. I don’t care about the redefinition of ‘ally,’ let me look up the proper definition of ‘ally’ and other words, and stop shoving your politics down my throat.
  • Overall pretty great, a few annoying ticks, though

    By A stressed hs student
Great website. Great definitions. Ok app. It is not the most user-friendly. I will be looking up various definitions and all of the sudden, a loading icon will pop up and not go away until I leave and refresh the app. The scrolling is also extremely sensitive, which can get annoying at times. The app also has a feature that allows you to press a word in the definition, which takes you to the definition of the word you just pressed. Super useful, except when you press the back button to return to your original search, it takes you back like 4 searches ago instead of the one you just came from. This means you have to go out of your way to re-search what you were looking at in the first place. Other than that, the app is pretty great.
  • Scam app

    By basilw
I bought this app about 3 times for my iPhone. Every time I change my iPhone and re install this app I have to pay for it. It is not giving me any options to sign in with my account information or any of the sort. People don’t purchase this app. I am very disappointed with it.
  • Ads are not muted

    By leah202
This should be an embarrassment for Dictionary.. The ads play loud and out of nowhere. Used to be a 5 star ap, but the unmuted ads are disgusting. 9/10 when one wants to look up a word it is in an environment where one would like to be discrete about it, but then look like an idiot when ads start singing even when the phone is on silent.
  • Ditch the video ads, please

    By junebaby15
As much as I would like to give this app five stars instead, being bombarded with video ads is too much and quite rude to users. I understand you need to make some revenue off the free version, but improve your model with banner ads instead of punishing your users by frequently interrupting their experience with video ads. Super annoying to say the least!
  • Ads play with sound

    By prettybaby9292
There are tons of ads! But what makes it worse is that they don’t allow you to turn the sound off for the ads in any type of settings. I contacted them and they basically said that’s just the way it is. The only way to turn the sound off is on the ad once it starts playing already! But who wants to be sitting in public and all of a sudden an ad sound goes off while using the app?! Once this issue is fixed, then it will be a good app.
