  • It’s okay.

Good app for basic learning. However, it has some bugs that make it annoying. For example, on some questions there is an image shown and it asks to look at the image and answer the question. The image will not load however and there is a blank screen. This happens on many of the questions that are like this. I have been using this app now for over a month. It also has problems syncing over multiple devices. My phone does not show the same progress as my tablet, and they are both under the same account. The program is great if these bugs are fixed it would be 5 stars.
  • Have no experience with this exam

Paid for the “Ultimate Version.” Let me tell you that there is nothing great about the material. The questions are nothing like the actual test. Not even close. The authors of the questions have no experience with the exam. I downloaded the app to have something to study on top of the other material that I have. I passed but not because of this app. I got it thinking I could do some quizzing while waiting in line at the store, or downtime during work hours. It’s upsetting knowing I could’ve been studying or quizzing myself with something way more useful. The fact that I paid for it and passed is actually upsetting. Knowing they are scamming people in thinking this app will really help. Not to mention the questions are 4th grade level written. Here is some advice. Get some folks that have taken the exam and tell them to give you some REAL QUESTIONS. Or look at the actual Comp TIA objectives and get some real study material. Developers should be embarrassed for calling this the slightest bit educational for folks trying to get into the industry and take this exam. Oh and I haven’t even got to how the app performs. Consistently crashing. Having to always rest your progress to get the app to work. Exam builder works at the beginning till you start getting close to attempting all the questions. Then you have to reset your progress again. If you made it this far in my review. Do yourself a favor. Look for ways to study and quiz yourself elsewhere. This app will have you thinking it’s gonna be easy.

I had a very novice background in networking. As in I could set up a small field network using very basic subnet mask and cat 5 Ethernet cables. I started on Monday March 11, 2019. I watched all of Professor Messer’s videos and took these practice tests until I scored an 80 average in each section and exhausted all of the questions. I took my test 1 week later, Monday March 18, 2019 and passed my test with a 782/900. 720 is the minimum passing score. There you have it. The app was a little glitchy and I often had to wait for things to load for about 15-30 seconds before I can begin. The more questions you answer the slower it gets. Also, I used the premium version for the 600 question data base.
  • Crashes every time

Overall it would be a good app, if it didn’t crash every time I used or took an exam. It only work for 2-5 minutes. In addition it takes forever to load, even on WiFi.
  • dev needs to read crash logs and fix threading

All versions of the PocketPrep apps display the same problems. Frequent hangs/freezes, crashes, and lost data. Reading the device/app logs (by connecting device to Xcode) shows most of the problems are due to poor thread management. Long activities on the main thread being system halted after timeout is exceeded, or threads trying to dispatch work to themselves. This is sloppy coding. And, it’s obvious they reuse the same code across all of their apps. If I put my device in airplane mode, these apps do behave better... further confirming most of the freeze/crash occurrences are within the thread management of network calls and SQLite data updates (which is clearly indicated in the crash logs). I contacted PocketPrep directly about data loss from app crashes, provided details, got an automated reply, followed by absolutely no response from them. As much as I like the idea of these apps and the progress tracking features, it’s nearly addictive when it works, the reality is these apps aren’t stable and the metrics data is gibberish. In hindsight I should have spent the money purchasing additional books and avoided these apps like the plague that they are.

*Update after buying app: Still not worth what I paid. Expect the app to do the following consistently: -Crash or freeze up -Not Display images that are part of the question -Ask you to sign back in atleast once a day if you use it a lot. -Again, crash and freeze up However this is the only decent mobile app for Net+ and Sec+ The questions are somewhere above ExamCompass and below a real testing bank such a Mike Myers or Dion. Closer to ExamCompass than anything legit. It's decent and has been helpful but should just be relegated to rote memorization, simple review while on the toilet or in a waiting room. Original Review: Did the free trial and was glad I did. The app is not worth $20.00. $4.99 maybe due to the amount of questions. I think you would make more sales at that price point. Compare it to when the Atlanta Falcons started charging regular prices for food and beer at games - they made a ton more money. More impulse buys happen in the 1-5$ range. $20 is a pricing pain point. Put it up for $4.99 and I'll buy it.
  • Bugs and Lag

Good info and structure, but some annoying bugs make this app frustrating to use. It is slow in displaying past test success rate and building exams. For the money, the attention to detail is lacking. Still a useful resource while it works.
  • Glitchy

Some things didn’t load, would randomly blank out and close the app, sometimes wouldn’t even load.
  • Images don’t load on all questions

Great questions and explanations. However they deserve three stars because the images do not load. App should cost $1.99.
