Great layout, excellent writing, and...get this...THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE SAN JOSE SHARKS EXIST! That in itself is worth the price of subscription for me.
  • Great content but app bugs and missing features

    1) Allow users to mark articles as read 2) allow setting to not display read articles in lists. 3) allow users to change font and make font smaller than smallest setting currently. 4) Allow story lists to be compacted to reduce size of story link from list. 5) show back button in story always. Currently only reappears if you scroll back up a little. BUG - Read stories go back to being unread without an app update. Happens multiple times. BUG - Order of teams across top reorders itself and there was no app update. BUG - Can't access list of additional teams to add to follow list.
  • Great Content, just need some app upgrading

Every article I've read has been great but the app could really use some customization. With the teams I follow on top it would be great to be able to put them in the order I actually want them, rather than my favorite team being last among them. Just needs several tweaks to be a great app!

Got a subscription to follow Michael Russo and his excellent coverage of the NHL and the Minnesota Wild. I am not disappointed and I'm enjoying all the other articles by your fine writers and Russo's prolific insider news and analysis.

Insightful and analytical stories from good writers with no god forseaken pop ups or auto play videos. I'd pay quadruple what they are charging for this clean interface and the level of insight.
  • Unbelievably Good Start

The Athletic (Philly) has had a tremendous start and I'm ecstatic to see this kind of quality writing focused on my favorite teams. Interface is clean, and the writing staff is a perfect fusion of SB Nation team sites' focused perspective and the deeper analysis you see by some of the best national writers. Haven't read a single hot take on the site yet, and just about every opinion I've read has been immediately backed up by reasoning and data. The app could some iterative design changes I think. Podcasts not appearing in the podcast feed, a more customizable interface, and notifications on a per-writer basis are a few that come to mind. These are marginal criticisms at best, and I'm actively glad to be paying for the yearly subscription for access. 5/5, would recommend.

Well forgetting that The Atlantic has landed some magnificent beat writers (I only subscribed because of Michael Russo), this app works great. It doesn't crash, clean layout with no adds, and it collapses a story to be about 2 lines if I have already read it (making it easy to find again or skip over). Only thing I would change is that getting to the comments after you finish a story is a little weird, I have to press add a comment to see the comments...it's easy to get there while reading story, but I want to finish reading what Russo has to say first!
  • Russo!

After Russo left the tribune I was going to wait it out and see what they came up with. Russo posts were still on my Facebook feeds and after getting interested in the story's they faded to nothing (great marketing BTW). It's money well spent to read some of the BEST NHL and Wild reporting ever IMO... keep them coming, I could see me being a long termed reader

If you appreciate reading the best sportswriters-- and you dig on longer form, thoughtful stories (so hard to find these days)-- you'll love The Athletic. Don't think twice about price-- quality experience worth paying for.
  • No search function?

Love the content, hate the app. There's no search function for locating writers, teams, etc. Inexcusable.
