And if you’re wondering what tech reviews say about Gemini 2, wonder no more: we’ve gathered some of them below. WHAT MAC EXPERTS SAY “I’ve been an active user of MacPaw’s Gemini software since its inception, and Gemini 2’s release today has made me fall in love with it all over again. In just the initial scan, Gemini 2 found more files and more places where I could intelligently clear and save space on my Mac.”
- 9to5mac “If you want to clean up your Mac, but are trepidatious about digging around in your files and accidentally deleting something important, Gemini 2 has a lot to offer and makes the whole process very simple.” -
iMore “With Gemini 2 there’s little reason to fear duplicates. It has a polished, intuitive user interface and the brains to differentiate copies from originals by testing them against nearly a dozen different parameters. It’s also much faster, especially compared to digging through thousands of files and folders the old-fashioned way.” -
MacWorld SUBSCRIPTION AND PRICING Some features are only partially available for non-paying users and can be unlocked with a Yearly Access plan. For example, the non-paying users can delete found duplicates only manually via Reveal in Finder feature and don’t have access to Smart Cleanup. Filtered apps by the "Free" and this one came up. Upon download, I am then informed that I have a 3 day trial period, then must pay.....DELETED

Looks like the active monitoring feature uses up all application memory on Mac Mini M1. Doesn't seem to be a factor if that mode isn't used. rdh
  • Stop running and sniffing my Mac at Startup of OS!

I used to love this app. But it seems, as is with the rest of their products, it's becoming more and more bloatware than actual usable and functioning software. Please give the ability to stop the application from running at launch of OS. You are not going to get my annonomous data so stop coaxing me and everyone else into giving up their personal (non identifiable) data. Very annoying and leads me to believe you have other nefarious motives which are not geared for my macs best interest.

Added a star because the Developer responded very quickly (original 1 star). Will try this again...
  • This app won't let go

I've used this app intermittenly, and it performed well, though I did not have enough choices, and it required hours of sifting through duplictates to make sure it got the right one. Now, it continutally starts, places itself in my menu bar, and it a complete annoyance. Everytime I restart, I have to rid myself of this pest. After I finish writing this, I will uninstall Gemini 2 and never run it again. Other apps do the job for less and don't take over your Mac.

Spent hours selecting similar photos to delete only to get "Unknown Error" message. What a waste

The old version was great. I need to compare individual folders and select the files I want to delete. This doesn't seem possible in the new version. It is worthless to me. I will cancel my subscription.
  • can't update

I love this app. two things though - one is can't update to the current ( I am in the most current OS) two is doesn't really distinquish between my photo files that just happen to be the same file name from the camera. Takes a while to sort.
