Amazing app, wonderful layout and organizing- what are your thoughts on adding templates?
  • Fails at primary goal

    By Spike72AFA
I have been an Evernote user for over eight years, but have wanted to find an alternate App because of proving and privacy issue. Bear looked to be the solution, but it fails at the basic goal of syncing across platforms. I have done a limited test with about 7K notes migrated from EN. All were uploaded to Bear on my Mac, but not all come through to my phone. I have contacted Shiny Frog multiple times and they respond slowly and with generic boiler plate advice which is neither specific or helpful. Unless they can fix this, I will keep searching for an elephant killer.
  • Perfect Note Taking App

    By Mesosa214
Not only are the many different themes aesthetically pleasing, it’s a joy to use. It works flawlessly with iCloud. The app itself is simple. This is a good thing, as I can’t stand cluttered apps like EverNote. I can just focus on taking and reading notes. It’s priced great, too.
  • Easy sync!

I love how it quickly syncs between my phone and laptop! They improved the tag system by allowing sub-folders which I really needed!
  • Pocket

    By Stand on your own
I would delete pocket if you could align article saving in a similar manner, not a big deal but I like how they do it, 5 stars if it rolls out. Overall top notch stuff, keep those smooth updates rolling.
  • Simple, appealing layout

So easy to use. Just finished converting notes from another platform. Even with all of my data in front of me, it feels fresh. Themes look great, though I still favor the original, especially on iOS devices. Tags are simple to use and navigate. If you favor the workflow of notebooks, test out the tags-subtags method in Bear (#tag/subtag/subsubtag) before you convert all your stuff. For the notebook stack that I could not do without, I use a tag for the stack, then subtag for notebook, and followed by a sub-subtag for specific note topic. It made me think more critically about my information and how I want to access the data. Bear has a simple step-by-step process for migrating notebooks to the tagging system if you want to do it that way. Also, if at all possible, make your transition on the macOS version. The iOS version is fantastic, but I found it helpful to have my menus, lists, etc., stay in place when initially setting up. Finally, I took my time and used Bear’s web site resources when I needed a little guidance. You also have a few “get started” notes loaded when you first download the app. Love the app!

  • Fun FAQs about Bear

    By lmastuff
If my phone or tablet is lost or reset, do I lose my data? A: yes When I click on the pro subscription for $1.49. Will Bear take money out of my account each month? A: yes, and they won’t send you a notice that they are taking it. This is hugely beneficial because most people think apps are free or there’s a one-time payment. We can fly under the radar for many months before our customers click to find the billing pages at Apple Store or read their credit card statements.
